Old School 105.7 Remembers Aaliyah

Everyone remembers where they were  on August 25, 1001 when they heard the sad news that Aaliyah and eight others were killed in a plane crash after filming the music video for ,"Rock The Boat". She was only 22 years old and was attributed with helping to redefine R&B and Hip Hop.

Her short life was full of professional as well as personal action. At he age of 10 she appeared on Star Search and at the age of 12 she signed with Jive Records. Her debut album, "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number" sold three million copies. To date the three albums that Aaliyah released during her short life have sold over 32 Million Copies. She is said to influenced artistsAdele, The Weekend, Ciara, Beyonce and countless others.

 

Aaliyah avoided speaking about her controversial relationship with R. Kelly but admitted that she lied about her age to marry the artist. At the time of her death Aaliyah was dating  Damon Dash of "Shark Tank" Fame. They were not officially engaged but had spoken of getting married.

Aaliyah was set to star in several movies at the time of her death.
