Chance The Mayor? Chicago Fans Want It!

Fans have gone as far as to create a site called to voice their reasoning.

It's no secret that Chicago, even though awesome, has a lot of corrupt or poorly lead spots in their political system. Well, fans of Chance The Rapper are hoping that maybe they can either draw Chance into running for mayor himself, or if they can get him to find a candidate to back that believes in the same values as he does.

The site design quotes Chance's song "Somewhere In Paradise," in which he says "They say I'm savin' my city, say I'm stayin' for good, They screamin' Chano For Mayor, I'm thinkin' maybe I should."

The site shares their thoughts:

"Rahm Emanuel has been in office since 2011. In that time we’ve seen the closure of 50 public schools, the largest in history. The city shut down 6 of its 12 mental health clinics. The Department of Justice found a pattern of civil rights violations by the Chicago Police Department, including but not limited to the murder of Laquan McDonald. It’s time for change."

They also have created digital characters of Chance with quotes from his songs, and all the lyrics are ones that note the issues that Chicago is facing as a society. They share that they know that 2019 is a long way away, but they hope that even if he doesn't run, he'll at least consider continuing his crusade for Chicago by talking to the people who do.

Do you think that Chance the Rapper should break into politics? Let us know!
