Charlie Murphy was a great guy-a family man-and very funny. He was often in the shadow of his older brother Eddie but in recent years he had really come into his own. The hilarious skits he did with Dave Chapelle were wildly popular-especially when Chapelle played Rick James or Charlie played Prince! Charlie was a Las Vegas regular. He played The House Of Blues often and he loved it!
Last year Charlie was absent from The Comedy Get Down Tour with George Lopez, D.L. Hughley, Cedric The Entertainer and Eddie Griffin. I remember walking into Mandalay Bay and being so excited to see Charlie only to find out he had been a last minute cancellation. Charlie was so upbeat and such an inspiration that I never thought that he may be sick.
Life has been particularly cruel to Charlie Murphy's Family. He lost his wife to Cervical Cancer at the age of forty and he passed today at 57 to Leukemia.
